What are P.S. I Love You Foundation’s programs?

P.S. I Love You Foundation reaches at-risk children through three types of programs. Not only do we implement PSILYF programs, but we also help our at-risk children find and take advantage of OTHER resources and programs that exist for them in the community.

  1. P.S. I Love You Foundation ProgramsOur own programs that create positive interactive experiences between at-risk children and the local community.
    • Annual Day at the Beach (Summer Programs) – Unites 150 local volunteers with over 150 at-risk children from local shelters and foster care for a day of one-one one personal TLC. Creates a safe and positive experience for each child while providing food, group and individual games, swimming, toys and educational products from local sponsors such as Mattel and Disney Store.
    • Annual Day of Gift-Giving (Winter Program) – This programs brings volunteers, toys and the joy of the holidays to at-risk children at shelters and churches, such as Richstone Family Center, American Martyrs’ inner city churches, Good Shepherd Shelter, and Kids in Solitude.
  1. Community Integration Programs – Complementary programs that use the resources and programs that already exist in the community. P.S. I Love You Foundation either integrates at-risk children into existing programs or provides funds to get kids into programs that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to experience.

    • Annual Field Trip Adventure Program - Sponsors 5 to 7 trips every year with Planet Hope Foundation. About 55-80 at-risk children are taken to the zoos, museums, beaches, theaters and plays.

    • Annual Adventure Camp Outreach Program - Provides 100 at-risk children with the opportunity to attend a full week of interactive and educational summer camp at the Beach Cities Health District’s AdventurePlex in Manhattan Beach. Click Here to Read a Testimonial about Adventure Camp

    • Annual National Adoption Day Outreach Program – Sponsors 15 foster children, through our partner Alliance for Children’s Rights, that will get adopted into caring and loving families.

    • KidsExcel Sports Outreach Program / August 2005

  2. Educational in-school and after-school Programs – Educational programs for PE, Health/Wellness, Math, Science and World Awareness. We have created Yoga123 for PE and Money Math for arithmetic. Instructors get trained and paid to implement these state aligned curriculum programs into Title 1 schools for at-risk youths. We are currently in 4 elementary schools at Compton’s Roosevelt Elementary and Hawthorn’s Richard Allen Elementary serving a total of approximately 120 at-risk children. These programs are highly interactive, easy-to-learn “classroom in a box” lesson plans created for children K-12. These programs are designed by P.S. I Love You Foundation to minimize the workload of overburdened teachers by creating state-aligned educational modules that can be taught by either teachers or volunteers. Other Title 1 Schools we have taught in are Birney Elementary, Madison Elementary and Richstone Family Center.
    • Yoga 123 Program – Conceptualized and created by the P.S. I Love You Foundation, this 12 week program teaches young students physical, social and attitude development while increasing their self-esteem, personal focus and respect for themselves and others. This program is being taught in the U.S. and London elementary school systems. YOGA123 is a state-aligned Physical Education class that also teaches feelings with mood cards, community projects with weekly journal assignments and physical education through yoga strength poses and peaceful breathing techniques. >> more info
    • Magic Money Math Program – MMM is a 12 week state-aligned math curriculum class for at-risk youths ages K-5th grade that teaches financial freedom and works with a local bank to open a savings account for each child. This program is designed to offer a clear and simple understanding of how money grows and how savings your future can create a better life. The idea is that children learn how to become a millionaire by saving just a dollar a day from age 8 to age 45 through the power of savings and interest!! This unique, interactive and inspirational program is being further developed with certified math educators, financial professionals and child specialists. Once in place, the program will be supported by local bank participation.

How is P.S. I Love You Foundation funded?

P.S. I Love You Foundation is currently funded through corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations, along with the following fund raising initiatives:

  • "Team for Teaching" Program – PSILYF teams with businesses to fund PSILYF educational and inspirational programs. There are two programs:
      • Corporate Team for Teaching
        • Option A: One dollar for every new customer is donated to PSILYF.
        • Option B: 3% for every sale is donated to PSILYF.
  • Realtors Team for Teaching - $500-$1,000 for every closed escrow is donated by the realtor to PSILYF. The buyer of the property also has the option of making a donation.
The goal of the program is to tap into the power of successful business in our community, while providing a revenue stream that touches the lives of many at-risk children.
    • Red, Black & White Annual Casino Night and Silent Auction – PSILYF hosts an annual casino night and silent auction. Approximately 500 people attend this highly popular event, trying their luck at the professional gaming tables.
    • Corporate Sponsorships – PSILYF receives donations, as well as volunteers and in-kind donations from many community businesses including Northrop Grumman, Mattel, RoundTable Pizza, Manhattan Beach Creamery, Unocal 76, Toys R Us, Platinum Capital, and Brighton Escrow.

What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?

P.S. I Love You Foundation (PSILYF) looks for volunteers to assist in all of our programs that reach out to at-risk children in Southern California. We particularly need volunteers for the following programs:

  • Annual Day at the Beach
  • Annual Day of Gift Giving
  • Black and White Casino Night
  • Program Directors for Community Integration Programs
  • Educational Advisors/Directors for Educational Programs
