10^th Annual “Day At The Beach”… Adopt a child for one Day                                 

WHEN:       Saturday, July, 24, 2010
TIME:         Prompt volunteer attendance at 9:00am - 3:00pm
WHERE:    Between 6th and 8th Street on the Strand/sand in Manhattan Beach

Join us for this extraordinary community experience where 250 at-risk children are united with 250 volunteers like you to get "adopted" and given attention for the day.   This year we will have foster children coming directly from the Department of Children and Family Services and many are waiting for permanent adoption.  All other children come from local shelters and Title 1 Schools.  Each child bonds differently but ALL children LOVE everything about this day that you help create for them.

 Information for Volunteers:

• Your Responsibilities:  You will be assigned and responsible for one at-risk child for the day from 9AM-3PM.   MOST KIDS CANNOT SWIM:  It is your responsibility to  keep them safe. 
• Parking: Please allow time to look for parking at Metlox on Morningside and Manhattan Beach Blvd. Bring plenty of quarters for metered parking to avoid getting a ticket.
• Four VERY IMPORTANT Things to Bring:   
  (1)  Your LICENSE. You will turn it in when you are matched with a child and it will be given back  to you at the end of the day. 
  (2)  A Beach TOWEL as a GIFT for your child.
  (3)  LARGE BLANKET for  you and your child’s home base to relax.
  (4) A large (10" x 13") self addressed, stamped manilla ENVELOPE so that your child can send you a Thank You note.
